Reviews patient records and assigns ICD-9-CM and CPT codes for each diagnosis and procedure in an acute care setting. Must have knowledge of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems, guidelines, and principles. Requires knoweldge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Assembles all discharged records and analyzes for deficiencies. Must be detailed oriented and possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Prefer 2-5 years coding experience in an acute care setting. RHIT or CCS certification required. AA in Health Information Management or equivalent work experience.
